Loading Instructions for Top and Bottom Loading Flexitanks

Loading Instructions for Top and Bottom Loading Flexitanks

Flexitanks are a savior when it comes to transporting bulk liquid items from one place to another. However, you need to take good care while loading flexitanks as it needs to be done in a proper, systematic and safe manner. Here are a few loading instructions for top and bottom loading flexitanks.

Loading a Top Discharge Flexitank

  • When you check the installation of the flexitank, make sure you examine the flexitank valve. It needs to be positioned appropriately. The flexitank also needs to be methodically enrolled against the container walls. It also needs to be fastened in all the corners of the container.
  • You need to check the flexitank’s capacity. This ensures under or over filing is avoided. You can under or over load a flexitank by up to 2% of the flexitank’s total capacity.
  • Do away with the locking pin and safety cap and see that you pull the lever of the valve outwards so that the valve is completely opened. The cam-lock coupling of the loading hose needs to be fitted into the valve properly and locked appropriately.
  • When the flexitank fills up, move the load hose higher so that it doesn’t get trapped between the container’s side wall and flexitank. After it is adequately filled, close the valve, turn off the pump and insert a locking pin into the handle.
  • Drain out any residual product from the hose, clean the valve properly, re-attach the bung cap and make sure the warning label has been duly fixed to the container’s left hand door. Shut the container’s right hand door.

Loading a Bottom Discharge Flexitank

  • Prior to installation, check the flexitank and see that it has been unrolled completely against the walls and onto the corners of the container. It also needs to be secured and positioned against the bulkhead appropriately.
  • Understand the flexitank’s capacity so that under or over filling is avoided. Just as a top loading flexitank, you can under or over load a bottom discharge flexitank by up to 2%. After opening the wear sleeve snout, roll it out so that the valve is exposed.
  • After removing the locking pin and safety cap, pull the flexitank’s lever towards the outside. This ensures the ball valve is completely opened. The cam-lock coupling and loading hose need to be properly fitted to the valve and appropriately locked. The loading hose needs to be correctly supported so that any downward pulling on the flexitank valve is prevented.
  • After the product is loaded inside the flexitank, close the valve and turn off the pump. Put a locking pin into the handle and seal it. Before removing the loading hose from the flexitank, do away with any residual product that exists from the hose to the collection point.
  • Clean the valve and re-secure the bung cap. Seal the wear sleeve and tighten it with the attached zip-tie. You need to also make certain that the warning belt is duly fixed to the left hand door.

We, at Rishi FIBC, are a competent and reliable flexitank manufacturer in India. We can customize flexitanks as per your requirement so you can carry out the entire loading procedure in a desirable, professional and systematic manner.

Heater Pads for Flexitanks

Sometimes, thermal insulation is added to the flexitank. This ensures that it can suit the atmospheric conditions, the type of product it carries and temperature range. Heater pads for flexitanks are used to maintain the preferred temperature from the time of transportation all the way to the destination. The heater pad basically has a constant HDP/Valuflex hose. This ensures steam and hot water flow through freely to heat the product inside.

Preparing Heater Pads

Roughly speaking, heater pads are prepared in the following way:

  • Place the heater pad on the floor of the container; unroll it towards the front of the container. See that the hose is flat on the floor.
  • Line up the inlet/outlet hose to the back of the bulkhead panel. Make two holes at the bottom of the panel so you can pull the hose through easily.
  • Attach the inlet and outlet hoses of the heater pad to the hot water system (which is used at the discharge location).
  • Let the hot water travel until the temperature of the product has risen as per the requirement.

Advantages of Heating Pads

  • Heater pads for flexitanks are used to make the atmospheric condition suitable for the product being transported.
  • You can preserve the desired temperature at the start of the load right until it has to be unloaded at the desired location.
  • Behind the corrugated paper, there are lines of steel and rubber placed. This is placed at the time of the flexitank installation. It ensures adequate heat is provided to the product until melting so that download can be encouraged.
  • Heater pads are used for liquids that are easy to crystallize as the download can be carried out in a more rapid way.
  • Heater pads are reusable in nature and do not need to be discarded after one use itself.
  • You can use it to keep coconut oil, palm oil, animal fats, syrup, paraffin, paraffin wax and maltose at their required temperatures.

Heater pads are a great discovery and work to ensure the products are transported in a safe and temperature controlled environment. At Rishi FIBC, we can guide you on using heater pads for flexitanks. We are a leading manufacturer of flexitanks in India and can customize flexitanks as per your requirement.

Flexible and light-weight, flexitanks help to reduce the cost of transport and come with added advantages. Rishi FIBC, is one of the leading manufacturer of flexitanks in India. The company offers to make customized flexitanks to suit the varying demands of the industry.

Reducing Shipping Expenses with Flexitanks

Flexitanks can be used for shipping and transporting various kinds of bulk liquid items. Flexitank containers are a good alternative to keep in mind when shipping non-hazardous liquid products. As compared to the cost of loading the product/item into the tanker containers, using flexitank as an option really works to cut back costs.

Flexitanks are very efficient and effective in their shipments and companies can benefit from it to a huge extent. As compared to traditional drums, flexitanks can take in 40 per cent more liquid cargo, thus helping companies reduce their freight costs significantly.

Using flexitanks, companies can load more in a standard 20 ft container, which further helps reduce the transportation cost.

You can transport non-hazardous chemicals as well as food and non-food items. These include wine, juices, types of oil, syrups, shampoo, ink, water based paints, lubricants and pharmaceutical ingredients.

Loading and unloading the items too, do not take long. Installing the flexibag into the container may take around 30 minutes while loading the liquid cargo may take 40 to 50 minutes. The items can be shipped by sea, rail and road although certain bags cannot be transported by rail unless they comply with the required standards.

Additional Advantages of Flexitanks

  • You can save a lot on the ocean freight. This is especially true when you compare it to shipping products in tank containers.
  • You can easily ship more than one item in one container. The size of the flexitank can range from 16,000 to 24,000 liters. Individual packing is not required since the items are loaded in bulk.
  • Flexitank bags are disposable in nature. You do not have to clean them up after they are unloaded, as it occurs in the case of tank containers. This further helps to reduce cost.
  • As flexitanks are made using fully recyclable virgin polyethylene, disposal is eco-friendly and costs are not high.

How Flexitanks are Better than Tanker Vessels for Bulk Liquid Transportation

How Flexitanks are Better than Tanker Vessels for Bulk Liquid Transportation

As the world is constantly evolving, companies are continuously on the lookout to find efficient and resourceful ways to ship or deliver goods from one place to another. The environment hazards caused due to transporting different types of bulk liquid have seriously made manufacturers consider how to transport their items and liquid logistics from one particular point to another. These days, ruling the roost are tanker vessels and flexitanks for bulk liquid transportation although the latter is said to possess additional advantages. This is because companies do not only want affordable, convenient and fast ways to carry out transportation, but they also want to cause minimal or no damage to the environment. But when it comes down to a duel, which of the two are better?

Why Tanker Vessels Are Used

Chlorine, wine and even oil have always been transported by the supply chain industry through tanker vessels. These vessels are specially designed to ship chemicals, hydrocarbon and other products in bulk, especially when long distance transportation is required. The tankers are huge in size and are found to be reasonably priced when transporting goods during long durations.

However, there are certain drawbacks too. If companies cannot fill these vessels to their optimum capacity or there is a delay of any kind, it can prove to be a costly affair. These vessels, especially oil tankers have caused a fair share of environmental damage as well. For instance oil spills can greatly impact marine life while a spark at the time of an oil spill can cost you a crew member’s life.

Flexitanks: The Safer Choice

Flexitanks for bulk liquid transportation is found to be a much more efficient and safe choice. They are shaped like a bladder and can carry around 16,000 to 25,000 liters of cargo. There is no risk of spillage or contamination as the containers are thoroughly sealed. Flexitanks also come with the following additional features:

  • You can be flexible in your transport options as your items can be moved through sea, railways or roadways.
  • They are cost effective, offer great value for time as well as do no harm to the environment.
  • Flexitanks do not need forklifts to help in loading and discharging so transportation through land is carried out in a rapid way.
  • Avoidance of unnecessary drum use helps to minimize freight costs.
  • Flexitanks unlike drums are meant for single use and therefore do not make use of harmful and hazardous chemicals during their cleaning process.
  • Loading and unloading of items can be effortlessly carried out so daily shipments are encouraged.

Flexitanks: A Better Solution

Using flexitanks for bulk liquid transportation is always a safer, more efficient, cost effective and environment friendly method when compared to tanker vessels. For those carrying out the transportation of their shipments through tanker vessels, give flexitanks a try. They will surely prove to be low in cost and very efficient in transportation especially if your company is incurring high costs due to any kind of delays.

All in all, for the regular shipping of liquids and cargo in bulk, flexitanks are undoubtedly the best and score above tanker vessels that can be high in cost and come with their fair share of risk factors.

Rishi FIBC is a prominent manufacturer of Flexitanks in India. We produce a range of flexitanks tailor made to suit the bulk liquid transportation requirement of clients in India and abroad.

Flexitanks Vs Tanker Trucks: Which is Better for Bulk Transport of Liquid

Flexitanks Vs Tanker Trucks: Which is Better for Bulk Transport of Liquid

When it comes to transporting bulk liquid items, the popular choice of many companies is flexitanks and tanker trucks. But which mode of transportation is better than the other? It all comes down to what exactly you are shipping, from which part of the world you are doing so and the time it takes to reach its destination.

Flexitank Vs Tanker Trucks

Whether it is size, or sanitation, flexitanks and tanker trucks are distinct from one another.

Sanitation Standards

While tanker containers can be utilized again, they need to be systematically cleaned and certified as they come with strict sanitation procedures. The rules are even more stringent for the transportation of food items. While the norms help to reduce contamination, the receiver has to shell out a few additional bucks.

Flexitanks, on the other hand can be used only once so as to maintain the hygiene levels of the food items and chemicals. They come with strict standards of sanitation too. Even though you need to purchase a new flexitank every time you want to ship a product over, you save big as they come with additional advantages.

Size Matters

You can get tanker trucks in many sizes. They also transport items in bulk seamlessly as they can ship around 5,500 to 11,600lbs seamlessly. If you do not want to transport items in bulk or want to make local deliveries, you can choose the smaller trucks that carry less than 3,000 gallons.

There is never a problem when it comes to sizes for flexitanks as they are available in many sizes. The standard volumes consist of 16 to 24 liters while some flexitanks even provide transportation for volumes as low as 10,000 liters.

Cost and Delivery Criteria

The delivery options are better and more proficient with tankers because they help to transport the deliveries of many customers all at once. You can effortlessly transport gasoline, milk or juices in tankers as they come with a benefit of having up to six compartments. This ensures that multiple grades are transferred in one trip itself.

When operated with care and maintained impeccably, tankers are long lasting and more resilient. If the same product is being transported, tankers prove to be friendly on the budget, especially in the long run.

Flexitanks are cost effective as they are made from materials that are cheaper than tankers. They also save time, especially during the packing and unpacking process. You don’t need extra packaging even if your shipment is extra large as flexibags come with the largest packaging size. They are not reusable so you do not pay any fee to clean them up. You only have to pay one-way freight while cargo loss is greatly reduced as the liquid is easy to drain from one vessel to the next. The liquid does not move around during the transportation process. So, you do not need door-to-door shipping.

Flexitanks also come with heating pads, thus preventing certain liquids from heating during transports. Likewise, flexitanks can also be refrigerated in case of transportation of milk, wine or other temperature sensitive products.

The Verdict

We see that tankers are great for transporting liquid fuels and gases although they can be built especially for food transport, flexitanks typically ship non-edible and food-grade liquids. Although tankers are known to be long lasting and durable, flexitanks minimize shipping costs. For additional information on flexitanks, a good flexitanks manufacturer can provide you with detailed and more customized solutions. Rishi FIBC is one such flexitanks manufacturer in India that is trusted by logistics companies in India and abroad.
